On December the 2nd 1980 the tv-program Studio S airs "Who needs video?" on Swedish state television. A show meant to debate video rentals' position in society, and most of all how children are hurt by their exposure. The interviewed children talk of the pressing fear that's taken hold of their bodies, and parents and politicians alike in the studio express their utter contempt for it all.
The ensuing moral panic is as of by design, and the Swedish hatred for violent horror movies linger for decades.
When the interviewed children grow up it's revealed that they have been told what to say. And, perhaps most remarkably, the journalists are the ones who have shown them clips from the films. The exposure has thus come from the critics themselves.
This is the true part.
Video Violence is a satirical recreation of the Studio S program, until the film branches off and does to the people in the studio and in their living rooms exactly what they're afraid of. They are changed, and the following morning all of Sweden is as violent as the films shown during the night.
The question is wether this was the host's plan all along.
